During the winter months when Archie and Mirabelle can’t go on long hikes because of the weather, we buy three RAW, MARROW BONES or BEEF KNUCKLES, let them thaw/warm-up and then give them to the kids!
THREE because although Archie is happy with ANY raw bone, Mirabelle demands a selection and isn’t happy unless she can go back and forth between at least TWO. And she will also try to steal Archie’s whenever he goes to get a drink of water! LOL! (* he’s fine with it!) 😊❤️
They chew on them for HOURS and they stimulate not only PHYSICAL EXERCISE ( aka “Chewerational Facercizes) - because they REALLY do chew at them very hard for a very long time, but MENTAL EXERCISE too!!
We put down a big thick, old blanket to contain the little mess they make, and let them go to town!
NOTE: Be sure to check with your vet to make sure your dogs’ teeth are healthy before serving raw bones. Also never let a dog chew anything unattended and never give dogs COOKED bones - they can splinter and can be very dangerous. RAW ONLY!
