FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ARCHIE BRINDLETON THE FRENCH BULLDOG TO RECEIVE FIRE SAFETY AWARD
(TORONTO) May 25, 2017 – Archie Brindleton, a French Bulldog from London, will receive a Fire Safety Award from the Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony on June 1, 2017 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
In 2016, London Fire Department’s Fire Chief John Kobarda, Archie, and his caregiver Jordan Morris teamed up to deliver fire safety messaging on social media. Archie is a trusted and beloved social media influencer on Twitter (@MrBrindleton), YouTube, Facebook (/ArchieBrindleton), and Instagram (archie_plus_mirabelle).
Archie made his debut as a fire safety ambassador when he attended London Fire’s Smoke Alarm program kickoff last year in his London Fire Department uniform. His video team recorded and shared the video on social media, helping to communicate fire safety messages to audiences online. The video on Archie’s Facebook account has now been viewed more than 10,000 times. Archie’s website (www.archiebrindleton.com) also provides fire safety messaging.
Archie has attended public information displays and interacted with passersby during Fire Prevention Week 2016, Carbon Monoxide Awareness Week, Firefighters Feed Our Kids, the “Reality of Fire” school program and March Break Safety displays at local malls.
“Archie's unique position as a social media influencer enables him to positively influence the way people think about fire safety,” said Ross Nichols, Chair, Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council. “The London Fire Department is grateful to have Archie help them build a safer community.”
The Fire Marshal’s Public Fire Safety Council gratefully acknowledges the support of its sponsors in this event: Insurance Bureau of Canada, Technical Standards & Safety Authority, CSA Group, Kidde Canada Inc., Electrical Safety Authority, Roxul Inc., and Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc.
💜💜💜 See you in the reamingplace!!💜💜💜
